Terms and conditions
These are the rules of the arrangement between you and Justin. They are written in plain language on purpose, and every figure in them is the same figure published on the home page — if the two ever disagree, the home page is the one that is wrong and it gets fixed.
Who you are dealing with
Abraham Piano Studio is Justin Abraham Paul, teaching on his own account from 462 Bay Ridge Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11220, United States. There is no company in between: you deal with the teacher directly, and the contract is with him.
Contact for anything on this page: contact@estudioabrahampiano.com.
Asking for a lesson is not the same as having one booked
The form on this site sends a request. A lesson exists once Justin has replied and confirmed the day, the time and the place. Until that reply arrives, nothing is booked and you owe nothing.
The hours shown in the schedule are the ones usually free. They are not a live calendar: two people can ask for the same hour, and the answer says which one got it.
What a lesson includes
One-to-one teaching for the booked length, at your piano or online, in English or in Spanish. The teaching plan, the pieces and the pace are the teacher’s call, made with you and, when the student is a child, with whoever is paying.
- It does not include the instrument. You need a piano or an 88-key weighted keyboard at home for in-person lessons.
- It does not include sheet music or method books. You buy your own — the reason is in the copyright notice.
- It does not include tuning, moving or repairing your instrument, nor any guarantee about how fast you will progress. Nobody honest can promise that.
Prices, travel and payment
The prices are the ones on the rates table, and that table is the single source: this page does not repeat the figures so that the two can never drift apart. The trial lesson is $30 for 45 minutes and counts toward your first monthly package if you continue.
In-home lessons within fifteen minutes of the studio base carry no travel charge. Beyond that there is a supplement by distance, published in the same table, and the search box in “the trip to your door” works it out for your address before you commit to anything.
How and when you pay is agreed with Justin when the lesson is confirmed. This site takes no payments: there is no checkout, no card form and no payment processor anywhere on it.
Cancelling, rescheduling and refunds
The short version: twenty-four hours’ notice and the lesson moves. Less than that and it is lost. Packages are not refunded in cash.
The long version, with what happens when Justin is the one who cancels and what the exceptions are, is on its own page: refunds and cancellations.
If the student is a child
A lesson for anyone under eighteen is booked by a parent or guardian, who is the one agreeing to these terms and the one paying. For in-home lessons with a young child, an adult is expected to be in the home. It protects the child and it protects the teacher, and neither of those is negotiable.
At your home
For an in-home lesson, what is needed is an instrument that works, a place to sit and enough quiet to hear it. Justin will say if a keyboard is not up to the job, before you buy one rather than after.
A lesson can be ended early, and charged, if the place is not safe for either person. It has never happened and it is written down anyway, because the alternative is improvising the rule on the day it happens.
What this site promises, and what it does not
The travel times and distances that the search box gives you are estimates, worked out from the ZIP code of the address. They are good enough to know what a lesson will cost you; they are not a route with live traffic. The final figure is confirmed by message before anyone travels anywhere.
The articles on this site cite their sources and give their date. Prices and schedules published by third parties change; check the original before relying on it.
Your data
What happens with what you send through the form is described, field by field, in the privacy notice. In one line: it goes to Justin’s mailbox and nowhere else. The site also counts visits with Google Analytics, which never receives what you write; how to switch that off is in the cookie policy.
If something goes wrong
Write to contact@estudioabrahampiano.com and say what happened. A person answers, usually the same day, and almost everything gets sorted in that message. This arrangement is governed by the law of the State of New York.
Nothing here takes away a right that the law gives you and cannot be waived. Where a line on this page and the law disagree, the law wins and the line gets rewritten.
Changes to these terms
The date at the top says when this page last changed. A change applies to lessons booked after it; it does not reach back to a lesson already agreed on different terms.
