Cookie policy

This page lists everything this site stores in your browser, so that you can check it instead of taking it on trust: two cookies, both from the visit counter, and one saved preference.

Everything that is stored

  • _ga — Google Analytics cookie.
A random identifier that tells one browser from another. No name, email or phone goes with it.
Lasts up to 13 months · set on the home page and the articles, unless you switch it off.
  • _ga_5DJWGY9WS4 — Google Analytics cookie.
Keeps track of the visit you are in, so that the pages you read count as one visit.
Lasts up to 13 months · set in the same places as the one above.
  • aps-tema — local storage, not a cookie.
Your light or dark choice: the single word “dark” or “light”.
Lasts until you delete it · saved only if you press the light/dark button.

The two cookies are set by Google Analytics on this site’s own domain, and only on the home page and the articles — not on the legal pages, this one included, and not on the error page. The site’s own code sets no other cookie. “Up to 13 months” is what the tag asks for; some browsers shorten it.

Check it yourself, in fifteen seconds

On the home page, open your browser’s developer tools with F12, go to Application (or Storage) and look under Cookies. For this domain you will find _ga and _ga_5DJWGY9WS4. If you ever see a different one, write to contact@estudioabrahampiano.com and it gets looked at.

What Google Analytics is for, and what it is not for

It counts visits: how many people come, how they arrive, which pages they read and whether anyone gets in touch. It is not used for advertising: the tag tells Google not to use the data to personalise ads or for demographics and interests reports, and the site has no advertising tags. Exactly what Google receives is described in the privacy notice.

How to switch it off

Any one of these is enough, and the site works exactly the same afterwards:

  • Let your browser say it. If it sends the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, this site does not load Google Analytics at all, and neither cookie is set. Look for those names in your browser’s privacy settings.
  • Install Google’s opt-out add-on, for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. It switches Google Analytics off on every website, not just this one.
  • Block or delete this site’s cookies in your browser settings. You will simply be counted as a new visitor every time.

What there still is not, named one by one

Because «we do not track you for advertising» is a sentence anybody can write, here are the usual suspects, and none of them is on this site:

  • No advertising tags: no Google Ads, no Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no LinkedIn or X tag.
  • No session recording or heatmaps: no Hotjar, no Clarity, no FullStory.
  • No social «like» or «share» buttons — each one of those loads a tracker from that network. The share button on the articles uses your own phone’s share sheet and talks to nobody.
  • No embedded fonts from a third party. The six typefaces are served from this domain.

The outside companies your browser does talk to

Being complete matters more than looking clean. Each of these requests carries your IP address, as every request on the internet does, and none of them receives anything you typed:

  • Google, on the home page and the articles. googletagmanager.com serves the Analytics script — it is the address Google publishes it from; this site has no Tag Manager container — and google-analytics.com or analytics.google.com receive the visit counts.
  • unpkg and OpenStreetMap, only when the travel-time map draws itself: the map library and the map tiles. They set no cookies on this site.

If you never use the address search, your browser never asks unpkg or OpenStreetMap for anything: the map only loads when that section is used.

The one preference that is saved, and it is not a cookie

If you press the light/dark button in the header, one word is stored in your browser — “dark” or “light” — so the next page does not come back in the wrong mode. It lives in what is called local storage, not in a cookie, and the difference matters: a cookie travels with every request to the server; this does not travel anywhere.

  • It is never sent to this server, so nobody here can read it.
  • It contains no identifier and no counter: it cannot tell one visitor from another.
  • If you never touch the button, it is never stored — the site just follows what your system is set to.
  • To delete it: clear this site’s data in your browser, or set the mode back to the one your system uses.

Why there is no consent banner, and what there is instead

A banner asks your permission before anything is stored. This site does not ask first. It is a local studio for New York and New Jersey, it counts visits and nothing more — no advertising and no advertising profile — and instead of a pop-up on every visit it gives you the switches above: one setting or one add-on, and you are left out with nothing lost.

If you are visiting from a place whose law requires your permission before cookies like these, switch on one of the browser signals above before you come in, and nothing is loaded. And if this site ever needs a banner, it will appear in the same update that makes it necessary.

If this ever changes

The day this site adds an advertising tag, another measuring tool or anything else stored in your browser, this page changes in the same update — not later. The date at the top says when it last changed. The longer version of all this is in the privacy notice.
